My impressions and review:

So here I am going through my list of oldies I need to judge and I find eX-Driver. First and foremost, no, it’s not like Initial D at all. Yes, there’s a slight mention of drifting in the first episode, but it doesn’t have the same mundane yet attractive formula that Initial D employs.

The story is what really kills the anime for me, although I know most of you don’t care about such petty little things such as “story.” eX-Driver takes place in a future where everyone forgets how to drive and hops in AI-controlled cars that take them everywhere. However, every day an AI-car will go out of control and start driving on its own disregarding all input, therefore making it a runaway. It’s up the the eX-Drivers to stop the car because they’re the only ones who can drive regular gasoline-fueled manual tranmission cars. Of course, the eX-Drivers are all minors because adults can’t drive. There’s two high school girls and a little boy from england who skipped a few grades and is also in high school. The adults can only monitor the operation from the safety of their headquarters for unknown reasons.

In conclusion I’m only leaving a record that I saw part of this anime. It just doesn’t have the formula to keep me interested.
