My impressions and review:
Elf Princess Rane is terrible. It gets no simpler than that. The anime starts with some guy who’s messed up in the head and crazy over some stupid treasure. All of a sudden an “elf” appears and he’s happy about it, but he can’t understand her. The girl that has been in love with him forever –obviously his “childhood friend” — also finds an elf but she can understand it and they live together. The guy ends up going to some shrine with his elf looking for a treasure and all of a sudden the elf, Rane, speaks and he understands her. They find some secret thing in a rock and stuff blows up. No laughs.
In the second episode all the girls get naked and the guy gives one of the naked girls a flower. Then they show a trailer for a 3rd episode but warn that it hasn’t been confirmed to be in production. I guess I know why they consider this a comedy… that’s exactly the one and only time I laughed… when they were not even sure they could keep producing this crap. Hey, at least they were honest.
By the way, thankfully, episode 3 never happened.
How is it dropped if you watched it all?
Good question.
I consider something dropped as not worthy of a proper review, not necessarily that I stopped watching it 1/3 of the way. My original goal with this blog was to provide a biased list of anime reviews sectioned off by level of quality. So after S,A,B,C, I decided anything else would just be “D” or “Dropped.” I thought about making a FAQ, but I never thought anyone cared enough to ask.
But to be honest, unlike the first episode that was getting me drowsy, I barely saw the second episode. I had it so I took the opportunity to skim through it and some of the screen shots are from the second episode. I saw enough of it to have a general idea of what happened though… or not.
